ROBOTIC DESIGN LAB | Spatial Composition

Based on the Robotics Design Lab Seminar IN_Space the free research design project aims a more profound investigation of designing with robotic fabrication methods. In essence, the assignment for the course will be the development and fabrication of a modular system. The process involves research in geometric shape, material properties and behavior, growth capabilities, joining and production. In addition the implementation of a robotics design strategy for the modular system needs to be developed. How can this process interact with material properties? To what extent does the realization require robotic fabrication methods and would not be achievable just by persons.

With the purpose of a complete digital fabrication process the design may employ computer programming and CAD in combination with CNC machining.
